Carmen Vollebergh

Educated as a material designer, Carmen was introduced to the fascinating world of contemporary jewelry at an early stage during her studies.

By doing research and documenting the specific properties and beauty of materials, she began to look differently at conventional uses.

In her work the traces of process remains visible in the end. Starting out with experiments in order to create the shapes that define her jewelry.

At face value, one will mostly see the shining glare that refracts from the multifaceted surface. On a deeper layer, that surface leads the way to the complex inner workings of the jewelry where light plays with texture.

Under the name Objects of Obsession Carmen creates not only pieces of jewelry but also other objects related to it. Without a fixed outcome, this approach allows for more freedom in her design process.
